Is there a repair kit available to fix the "economizer valve" or any other circuit in the metering block of a Holley 1920 or are we all SOL? Metering block problems are the "achilles heel" of the Holley 1920. Surely someone Has fixed one.

The Valiant starts fine, idles fine (warm or cold) but will not accelerate unless I really, really baby the throttle. Even then It won't cleanly roll down the street! Oh sure, deceptive little devil!

Any ideas?

Might just be easier (and cheaper) if you get one from a jy + $20 rebuild kit.

Maybe this would be good time for a super6 upgrade. The only price difference would be the manifold because you still would need to buy the carb and rebuild kit.

I've just rebuilt everything on this Holley paperweight and wanted to know if it's a sign to throw it out and put something else on? I mean I put a good brand name (NAPA) kit in it, filed the back of the metering block flat, put in a new float, properly adjusted and cleaned the hell out of it and it still wont accelerate. Tried running it rich, no dice, tried running a bigger main jet no way. It must be the block. Can you fix the metering block?

I guess I could fix it with a 10 lb sledge and be done with it!

Once the metering block gets plugged-up on a 1920, there is not much you can do to unplug them. You can try to spray carb cleaner and compressed air into every opening, you can even try to pop-out some of the plugs to get at the blockage but that still may not get it.
You problem sounds like a blocked enrichment or main feed circuit.
I would just swap-out the metering block with another, if that does not fix it, try a different carb.
