We are tearing apart the engine bay right now on the '71. Plan to completely re-wire with a 12SI GM Alt. Obviously the #1 thing at this point is to make damn sure we have a good ground and the alt hooked up right.

We also plan to replace the firewall connections. Has anyone done this? It looks like we could put some sort of connector in there, but I was thinking of either running wires straight through there, or putting the passenger compartment junction block/fuse block right there.

Also, what I am still semi confused about is where to run the 2 extra wires of the 12si. There is another thread about this - look up. I am assuming one is chassis ground and another is the voltage sensing wire. I've been reading on some old threads here, and apparently people are having some troubles with hooking this in the correct spot. This alt. has an internal regulator, where should I be connecting this?
