I have a 65 Barracuda that I am going to put some cragar classic rims on. I was planning on buying a used set of ebay to save $300. The only problem is I don't understand how to find the correct size. I called the dealership and found that the bolt pattern for the cuda was 5 on 4". I also talked to the cragar dealer (he tried to tell me that used rims would have stress fractures and be life threatening) and found that 15"x8" would probably be a good size. I don't really understand bolt pattern, especially backspacing. Could someone explain all this to me.

Well I believe backspacing is the measurementt of how far back they are space from the center.

Now 5 is the number of studs and 4 " is how far apart they are diagonally.

I have a Duster and i am using 15 x 7. I bought centerline rims due to the fact the dealer i went to said Cragar would not make the rim that size. My rims cost $200 each. Took 6 weeks to have them made. I sure that is what Cragar will be doing also.

To get bigger rims you would need to move the springs.

Hope this helps.

You are in a difficult position....small bolt pattern rims are getting hard to find, especially aftermarket applications....I recently paid $100 for 14inch Dart 340 rims that r a little wider than standard 14inchers. The small bolt pattern was used on A-bodys ONLY through 72 or so.The question is ,"what aftermarket companies make them"? Crager USED to makem but I don't think they do anymore.I think Centerline made them, but I think mostly for skinny front rims for drag cars...If anyone knows of companies still producing small bolt rims ,please let me know.........

SBP rallies are available aftermarket in any size up to 15x7. Nationalmoparts.com carries them.

Summit lists them on their website. 14x6 SBP Cragar SS....it'll cost you about 600 bucks for a set...with lugs and all.
Also, on a 65 Baracuda..it will be tough to fit 15s on the front..not tooo easy on the rear.

The Stockton Wheel company now has a new wheel that they are producing for the small bolt pattern Chrysler wheels. They are a great looking 1 piece aluminum called the "TQ". It is available in 15X5.5" and 15X7" widths. Not sure on the price?
