Any of you guys ever use the Offenhauser Dual Carb intake? Is it better just to get a super six 2bbl intake. I was thinking of putting headers on it also.. let me know what you guys think.. thanks~!

The twin 1bbl setup works well IF you take the time and effort to find, build and install a set of MATCHED carburetors. The choke problem is easily solved in any of several good ways.

Don't use headers, use Dutra Duals instead.

If you are thinking about a dual carb setup, you should consider the package that Chris at Pro Line Fuel is selling:

http://www.prolinefuel.com/dualslant.html
and
http://www.prolinefuel.com/customers.html

I think the dual Webers would perform better than a single 4bbl carb and look a lot more impressive. You would have trouble trying to do the same on your own because Chris buys unfinished manifolds from Offenhauser and machines them to fit the Weber carbs.

Also, the 1bbl Carter BBS carbs that this manifold was designed for used the old-style shaft linkage. If you use those carbs with a cable throttle linkage you will have to do some creative fabrication. I expect the later Holley 1bbl carbs would work fine but I don't know for sure. The super six setup would be the simpler and cheaper way to go, especially for later model slants.

They would work better in theory, but Chris's setup is non-progressive, so as you tromp the pedal, you open all 4 bores at the same time...where as with the 4 barrel the secondaries will only open on demand. That will change quite a bit when Chris R&D's a progressive setup (synchonis)...

It is a great setup and pretty much plug and play, though.

As I haven't tried the ProLine dual carb intake, I can't say for sure how well it works. However, I have read postings from others who have installed it and they sound quite pleased with it. None of the feedback mentioned any sort of bog on acceleration.

With the dual Webbers, do you use the stock kick-down linkage for a Super Six? I couldn't figure it out from the photos on the links supplied. Sure looks like a nice set up.

Hey all,
Defiantely interested in someone who might be interested in trying to Alpha test a progressive set-up, it would be with 32/36 DGEV carbs.

As for kickdown on this set-up, it requires modification/fabrication. Doug had a link to a bunch of good pics showing his set-up, but I cant find it. Help?

Thanks
Chris

I might be interested in a triple carb SU setup sometime down the road. But where and how?

Here is a link to all the pics I shot when I did the Proline installation on my 65 Dart.

This is just a directory of photos, I need to find some time to finish-up this web page. (I have a good "step-by-step" write-up just no time to do the final webpage)

Hey, if Chris has a kit available Id be glad to talk to him, being US-based, turnaround time would probably be faster! :)

How about the conventional Weber setup in a triple carb?

SU's ? Well If you can come up with a triple sidedraft manifold I would go with DCOE's ( I dont think you'll have any luck with clifford, I just sold a LYNX (the only one I had a line on) intake to a guy who tried to get one from clifford for over a year)

DCOE's are getting very expensive tho' like $400 each !

As for a triple downdraft set-up, I cant think of an intake that could be machined for it... Ive considered casting intakes (triple sidedrafts at one time) but the cost was more than I could handle.

Doug thanks for the link!!!!

I am considering motorcycle throttle bodies vs. a mustang throttle body on a plenum manifold with Megasquirt. I bring this up because there are other possibilites besides the Weber or Dell Orto side draft carbs, and I would be interested in a good triple sidedraft manifold, if I could find one for a reasonable price. If not, I may fab one up myself, or go with the plenum tube that should be pretty easy to fab up.

Chris, have you thought about using Megasquirt to sell FI kits?

Greg
