I have been thinking about ordering a set of their headers for my 225 slant, but have mostly heard only bad about their service as of late. Any other options for a good set of duals (other than Dutra Duals) that I can easily come by, or has the service at Clifford improved to where I will not end up waiting a long time for my headers.
thx

If your car is 67 or newer, there are several options for headers. If 66 or down, Clifford is just about it. If ordering from Clifford, what I would do.
Call them, do not use the web site.
Ask for Larry Milwee (owner)
Find out if the headers are in stock, and when they will ship.
Pay by credit card, and tell Larry, "if I don't have them within 1 week of the stated shipping date I am cancelling the order, and puting the charges in dispute, with the credit card co."
If they come on time, good. If not call Larry back, cancel the order, (don't let any one BS you about not being shipped on time ETC.) Then call your credit card co. and dispute the charges.
If they are not in stock, do not let them charge you credit card, untill the are in stock.

I don't think I'd want to deal with a company that I have to treat like a child. Is clifford really run that badly, or is it just hype from one angry person?

My personal experiance with Clifford, when Jack had the company, was very good. Since Jack died, I understand there has been some infighting. I had heard some bad stories, so when I bought my headers, last year, I did like I recommended in my previous post. I did get my headers on time, and did not have to resort to cancelling my order. By the same token, I still hear stories about Credit Cards being billed and deliveries being delayed. But the is not first hand info.

Its not one angry person. If you search hard enough there are several accounts of things like this happening with clifford.

The slant six market isn't huge, the demand for the parts is pretty slim. So sometimes they may wait untill they have enough orders to make a manufacturing run.

If you be stern with them, as Charrlie says, I don't think there will be a problem.

Buddy of mine ordered a set of cliffords a couple years ago....They were back ordered, and took a while....But they are the COOLEST headers u could ever get your hands on !!!! 3 into 1,twice, for TRUE dual exhaust....The question is;Is there a better solution??? My answer is NO!!! So ,let's everybody work WITH them, instead of badmouthing them. That way they'll at least still b avalilable !!!

I agree. The only thing I'm saying is "don't BS me", if they are not in stock and will take a couple of weeks or months, tell me up front. Don't charge me full price up front and have my money, when I don't have the parts. I would have no problem, with paying a deposit, when parts are back ordered.
PS. I did post my transaction went fine. Larry told me the headers were in stock, and I had them in less then 10 days.
