hello there folks. i'm attempting to stroke my slant six with the long rods and the 2.2 pistons. there is one problem i'm having a hard time finding 6 of them. they are the keith black pistons. part number kb239. does anybody know where i can purchase these online?

OK..unless I've missed something here, you're not actually Stroking
this engine but taking advantage of these parts to get a better
compression ratio ??

I don't want to "Rain on your Parade", but I'm not sure its worth the
effort when you could order a set of Hi-Compression pistons from one
of the after-market manufactures.
I don't see the advantages to this mod.

I'm not looking to get into any major/minor dis-agrrement on this ....
I'd just like to understand the thinking behind it.
Unless this is an All-Out race car it seems to me to be alot of bother
for a Street-Cruiser.
Just because something 'Can' be done doesn't necessarily mean it
should be done.
Its been more than 30 years since I built an engine, I guess the way
some things are thought about / percived could have changed.

Generally I look at things in as "Cost vs. Gain" .

No, this is nothing to do with compression ratio, and the lighter piston weight mentioned by 70Valiant is only a side benefit. The real benefit to the longer rods is a more favourable "rod ratio" (properly: rod:stroke ratio) which means less sideloading of the piston against the bore (=reduced friction and bearing stress), and longer piston dwell time at TDC (=better resistance to detonation) and at BDC (=better cylinder scavenging).

I think you also get rid of the problem of having the pistons way down the hole with the 2.2 pistons.............
