:?: I have a stock slant that I am going to install clifford headers on(I already have them). What do you guys think I should do about the absence of the heat riser valve and the stock automatic choke-mounting pocket? Since those are a part of the stock manifold what do I do now? :?:

Simple. On cold mornings just sit in your car and rev the engine a little for about 10 minutes andd then you should be ok. On warm or hot days it will only take about 5 minutes..hehe

Might wanna think about an electric choke.

Or use a manual choke and the later air cleaner with the hot air "door".
I have welded studs to the #4 header tube and used double nuts to bolt on the auto choke spring assembly, that works.

I remember seeing a guy selling some kind of warming plate on eBay. I couldn't figure out what it was for at the time, but maybe this is it. I think I found it searching for either "slant 6" or "slant six." It popped up several times over a period of time.

i did the same thing. you just have to set the idle right. i would get up in the morning and it would idle at about 450 or 500 rpm, not enough to make the auto tranny work. remember to pump the trhottle once or twice to get some fuel in the manifold. and you will need to learn to drive a cold engine, feathering the throttle and other neat little tricks specific to your car.

You can buy the Intake Heater Here:RasoEnterprises
(You will need to scroll down a little bit).
I believe his name is Frank Russo or Raso. He is on this board once in a while. I was planning on getting one when I got headers. Looks pretty neat. Seems like a good idea. He also sells some other slant six stuff on his site as well.
Cory

P.S.: Ask him if he has his "special" discount yet, for us /6er's.

The heater plate for the intake may help with fuel atomization once the car is warmed up, but remember that the water flowing through the plate will be cold for several minutes after start-up.
