I rang a mate in Oz last night and asked him to price up some pumps , will see what he comes up with and will holler soon as I hear.
It would also be of interest to know what the impeller size / thickness is on these pumps.
DD
He might have an old one around, if so I will ask him to open it up and take some measurements.. or if not another guy I know probably has one or two laying around the shop as well.

It's probably one of those kind of things that he'll say "Oh..I just got rid of a bunch of those last week" lol...

All the Aussie stuff I have had and brought over has been Hemi (or small block) powered so don't even remember seeing one of the pumps close up myself either..

Still waiting to learn if the RHD pumps can be had new aftermarket, or if we'd need to get hold of old ones and rebuild them.

Don't they have NAPA or similar stores in Oz.?If they built them there you would think the parts would still be available from the parts stores?

We do, but the slant was a relatively low volume seller down here and Chrysler pulling out in 1981 wouldn't have helped.
I can find reconditioned oil pumps on-line, but no new ones. That doesn't mean that they're not out there.

APsix,

Do you have a price on the reconditioned ones? How about the web address? Thanks,

Rick

I had my engine rebuilt last year with a US style LHD oil pump fitted. The reason the US pump was used is that I could get a new, higher volume pump, instead of a recon stock pump that probably wouldn't have been up to the job. Aussie oil pumps aren't available new anywhere, and haven't been for quite a while. As apsix said the slant was a relatively low volume seller down here. Also, from what I was told, you can't put a bigger impeller in the Aussie style pump to raise it's output.

I think the Aussie style pump is and not really suited to any mid to high performance Slant. I think the impeller is 5/8", I could be wrong here.
It's funny, I ended up with a new LHD oil pump on my on my Slant, which I think is great because it's not a remote filter setup, and here you guys want the Aussie remote filter setup. At least you guys in the US don't have the damn steering box in the way.
Tight fit isn't it. And that's with a small oil filter.

If someone sends me an electronic slant distributor (non ELB, ie centrifugal and vacuum advance) I'll send you an Aussie remote oil pump.

Regards, Andrew.
