Thanks, Greg. I'm trying to be a good boy and not pester you guys about the detailed article you're working on, and like I said, it's not like I plan on doing the conversion next week. It's just that, the more money I invest in parts for the project, the closer I get to the point of no return... (if I'm not already there). I know I could probably sell the bellhousing and all of the stuff I've gathered and make back some of the dough if I decide I'm in over my head, but I'm really not wealthy enough to take much of a financial loss. So, I guess I'm just trying to reassure myself that I CAN do this when I'm ready.

I REALLY appreciate you T-5 conversion experts helping "fabrication-challenged" idiots like me try to make this work, and look forward to any future insights you guys can provide.

Vynn, of all the folks that have done this conversion, I am the least experienced of all of them. I know where you are coming from and I am trying to line up my ducks as well. However, with the help of everyone here, it can be done, and you can do it. Don't fear.

BTW the crossmember pics I posted are of the one Greg made, as well as Lou's and 64$peed's

Made the lower X using a stock one with some minor mods using 13 ga steel sheet. I had done very little welding before.

The upper X was bolt in that my TIG buddy Mike Roy in CA did for me starting with cardboard patterns I made. Since then, I MIG welded in a similar upper X on the '68 Dart (A500 trans swap) using 1X2" box tubing and it has been fine. That's what I would do on the '64 if doing the T5 now.

easiest to do on the car. I fabbed one up from scratch but had to drive a couple blocks to weld anything. could have saved time if I had a welder at home. maybe someday I'll get one. feel free to PM any specific questions.
