Grab it! That is a somewhat rare Canadian valiant! It has the US Valiant front clip on a US Dart body! Loks solid enough to restore too. I'll bet that motor would fire right up with some fresh gas and a new battery...

the guy who owns the land, his son works for my dad so, i could get a good deal on it.The motor looks realy clean just missing belts and coil wire. the interier is shot. ( I'm pretty sure it has the original spark plug caps)

Gonna try the truck here in about 10 min so i will reply, if it was the carb base gasket.

father would kill, but it's only 200 yards away from owr 1/4 and the guy who owns it has a son who works for us so it would be cheap.
Their is an old chey impala ss with a 409 , white leather bucket seats auto tranny, that has been parked since 83' in a shed i'm plaining to buy and their is a 1970 ford gallaxy 500 with a 390, 4 spd that has 50,000 km and has sat since 1973, it also has a hersh shifter and stuff under the hood but has front end damage(baby blue with white hard top). And their is a balck trans am mid 70's also sitting x2.

That's totally screwed up fixes you are going through. I had to straighten out their problems or that becomes mine if I buy a vehicle like I have done with my caravan. So, here's my suggestions:

1. MUST FIND ALL THE LEAKS. I have gone through this with my carb 2.2 so I'm no stranger to this issues.

2. Make SURE the carb is not worn out throttle bushing can be barely worn to be a problem or carb is just junk from age and wear. I had gone many stock 5220 holley carbs (few were used and one was "rebuilt assembly style and is no good) and had to go weber due to hard to find rebuilder for particular carb back then, 2004-2005.

3. manifolds warpage at the engine is a usually a problem and have to be checked and the leaks between carb and the manifolds. Ditto to EGR if this one is equipped.

4. Must confirm the ingition timing is set up correctly with the timing gun and the pulley is telling the truth first by checking the cylinder 1 is at true TDC and mark is on the zero degree. And make sure the distributor mechanicals are working freely and sprung.

5. Valves must be set correctly.

Vertify, vertify and vertify!

Cheers, Wizard
