Hi,

Fuel tank on my A-body is getting rusty, it also has a little gunk inside (varnish, dirt etc).

My plan was pull it, clean it out replace any consumables (o rings etc), change the sock, check the sender unit etc, de-rust the outside and then repaint it. But I believe it is so far gone that anything I do will not be a permanent fix.

Then I was told about "fuel cells'

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/FUEL-CELL-PO ... 989wt_1164

Does anyone know if I can get one of these and place it where my current fuel tank is? Or can I only mount one in the boot?

I imagine they come with a built in fuel sender unit, can I link this one up to current A body instruments? or do I need a new gauge?

Is there place online that sells replacement fuel tanks?

Thanks. I couldn't find much information on the internet :/

Fuel cells mount inside the trunk. By the time you get one with the proper sender and get it mounted up you'll spend what a replacement tank goes for, plus you won't be able to use your trunk anymore.

That's a 40 liter fuel cell....of the top of my head that's 11 gallon right?
You can get stock replacement fuel tanks (16 gallons) all over the place! Check www.rockauto.com And they're quite a bit cheaper than fuel cells.
