i'm thinking of building my own breather for my super six that way i'm not choping the ones i got around here apart but i'm not confedent it will work

As a citizen of this earth you have the rite to build any thing you want. Assuming of course it is a legal item. In your case I think yo u would be just fine.

sorry, i just thought that if you were asking if something would work, you might give a little more information as to what it is you are going to attemt. How can anyone know exactly how you are planning to do something if you do not give details on what you are thinking of. Asking if it can be built is like asking if YOU know what YOU are doing. Me, I can't build a box from wood. I tried it, made a good table. Someone who knows how could do it. Didn't mean to offend you.

Are we talking about valve cover "breather(s)" or the air cleaner?
(some "blokes" call the air cleaner a "breather")

As for building either, it's just takes time and money!

we are talking about the air cleaner on top the carb i'm simply wondering if i will have problems with some of the lines that normally hook up

I never hooked up any vacuum lines to my air cleaner when I was using a Super Six.

I took a Supersix Aircleaner setup and cut it and pop rivited a Holly 4150 set up in it and and have won races many times with this setup caint tell you the exiat setup because that mean ole Bagel Bomber might look at it.

But i will give you the combo on how to cut one tenth of a second off of your time without really trying. It will cost you 50 Dollars for the parts ,not the advise. Thanks Possum Parker

If you're using the typical BBD, and don't have A/C, then you could chop up all the 2 barrel 318 'pietins' you want...

Being a sheet metal worker, most guys roll their eyes when I bring a frankenstein into work to 'spot weld' back together...

Should grab some more of those from the junkyard and make some 'dual snorkels for guys here on the board...

i don't have one for the 318 only the slant
if i don't put the tubes in for the vacume hoses what do i do with them plug the with screws or loop them together and the theres the line that goes to the little breater on the tappet cover can i just leave that line off or does that need to be filtered

i took a measurement and need a 2,9/16 inch pipe or something how hig could i go off the top of the carb in a truck i'm thinking of settin it up on a 2.5 to 3 inch adapter pipe or something like that

was looking and the adapter is not going to work so i'm either going to have to find a peice of pipe to fit or shape one out of some sheet metal

Easiest thing to do is cut up some other old air cleaners. These can be "super six", 318, or even some cheapo Taiwan aftermarket. Plug the vacuum port on your carb if it is not used, there's no need to plug anything on the air cleaner except for aesthetics. The oil breather on the valve cover will function just fine w/o anything hooked to it. It's simply where the air goes in the crankcase for the PCV (positive crankcase ventilation) system and it already has filtering material inside, but you may want to replace it with a new one if it is old.
